Hi! I'm Galen Buttitta, CAMS. Currently, I am an anti-money laundering (AML) compliance analyst at PNC. You may wish to have a look at my résumé.

I have been conlanging in earnest since 2009, though the bug really bit me sometime around 2002, when I was gifted an old edition of Muse magazine with an article about Esperanto in it. My first (failed) foray into the world of the invented languages was a very poor auxlang. In 2009, I decided that, since I'm writing sci-fi about aliens, they might as well have their own language. One language became five, five languages became…well, however many I'll end up with, I guess. In any event, the more I worked with inventing languages, the more I discovered I liked linguistics, and in 2014 I graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor's in the field.

The sci-fi setting I mentioned above eventually became Twin Aster, and it's the main focus for my conlanging activities. (It isn't the only one, though--I also contribute to Akana.) In terms of other conlanging-related activities, I compiled and curated the original Index Diachronica, although chri d. d. maintains it now (I have been meaning to pick it back up again; stay tuned).

When I'm not crafting tongues or performing audits, you can often find me behind a drum kit--I'm the drummer and sometimes-lyricist for Seven Kill Steel, a progressive metal band from Lorain County, Ohio, and I have entries in the Encyclopaedia Metallum and on Discogs.

Relating to languages specifically, I am a member of the Language Construction Society and the Klingon Language Institute. As far as other organizations go, I am a member of the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists, Mensa, Intertel, the Top One Percent Society, and the One-in-a-Thousand Society.

You can find me on Twitter, Tumblr, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram, or you can get in touch with me via your garden-variety e-mail client. Otherwise, feel free to check out the links above.
